* TLC NAMER *
* Version 1.0 *
******************
I. USE
This program is very simple to use, it runs as either an accessory or a
program by changing the extender (i.e. '.ACC' for an accessory and '.PRG'
for a program) and runs in Medium or High resolution. The main screen shows
all the available options, nothing will work until you select a file to
rename. After selecting a file, you can either enter the new name from the
keyboard or click on any of the symbols shown to include them in the name.
This makes a very simple way to include symbols in filenames like the
copyright symbols etc. Once you're satisfied with the new name you've
constructed simply click on Change File to rename it. Simple huh? For info,
click on the TLC Icon.
II. EXPLANATION
The ST has all the characters shown in the TLC Namer built into it,
there just isn't an easy way using GEM to include these symbols in
filenames. Be careful with some combinations, for example: GEM marks a file
as deleted by putting an exclamation symbol (!) as the first character of a
filename. If you do this, guess what? The desktop will be fooled into
thinking the file has been deleted. It's safest to use a normal letter as
the first symbol then you can usually use anything you want after that.
III. TLC
All TLC programs are SHAREWARE. I try to ensure a good value is given
for your hard earned greenbacks so I don't ask for $$ for just 1 program you
may occasionally use. If you contribute the $15 as requested, you will
receive a disk with 5 TLC utility type programs on it. Each program will be
personalized with your name and you will receive the GFA Basic source code
to them. That's right, they're all written in Basic. It was painstaking to
work out the code to embed resource files (I hate separate '.RSC' files) and
just as hair pulling to make all the Icons and Images appear the same in all
resolutions. Very few products are ever actually 100% bug free so if you
find one, let me know. Ideas for additions and changes will be entertained
as long as more than 1 person requests them. I am in the U.S. Air Force and
was recently stationed in Europe.
